What do my copyediting services include? Well, as you might have guessed,
I will correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation, but that's only to get me
warmed up! When you entrust me with your manuscript, I will also provide
the following services:

I also do proofreading. However, this service is recommended only as
a final step before your document goes to print. Please understand the
difference between proofreading and copyediting: The purpose of the
former is to catch mistakes before your work goes to press. The purpose of
the latter is to improve your manuscript.
* Rates will vary from project to project. I can give you a quote after I have
looked at a sample portion of your manuscript.

information
- Ensure that text corresponds with figures, tables, footnotes, etc.
- Eliminate wordiness, redundancies, triteness, confusing language, and
vague generalizations
- Check for parallelism in series and headings
- Improve organization, word choice, transitions, and fluency
- Ensure that all chapters and/or sections are organized coherently and
logically
- Query the author regarding gaps in information, redundancies, jargon,
and any other inappropriate material
- Query the author about any uneven coverage
- Ensure that tone and focus are appropriate and consistent
- Ensure that terms/definitions are explained and that figures and tables
are properly integrated
Upon request, I will do the following:
- Eliminate jargon and sexism, slander, obscenity, and prejudice
- Spot-check the accuracy of basic facts
- Format references and documentation
